Pull Invasive Spartina this California Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 16

Celebrate California Coastal Cleanup Day with the City of Arcata’s Environmental Services Department, Humboldt State University’s mighty Natural Resources Club, the California Conservation Corps, Redwood Community Action Agency and Friends of the Arcata Marsh on Saturday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the South G Street parking lot of the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center.

Participants will pull aggressive spartina grass and remove other invasive plants such as fennel and pampas grass from the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary, improving conditions for native plants and animals. Be sure to wear a long sleeve shirt, work pants and boots and bring rain gear and water. Gloves, tools, snacks and beverages will be provided.
