    Arcata Police Chief Ahearn invites residents to walk the Vaissade neighborhood with him on Sunday, May 19. All community members are welcome to join the Chief and share thoughts, concerns and ideas - or take a selfie! Just meet the Chief at the intersection of Felix Avenue and Martha Court at 11 AM to join the walk or catch him in the neighborhood until 12 PM.

  2. Climate Action Plan Workshop

    Local governments in Humboldt County are working in partnership to create a regional Climate Action Plan. As part of this effort, the City of Arcata is developing solutions to address climate change and is hosting a Climate Action Plan Workshop to receive public input. The workshop will focus on current greenhouse gas emissions and recommended actions our community can take to reduce them. Following a presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback and offer additional ideas on how the City can respond to climate change. With community input from this workshop, the City of Arcata hopes to develop creative climate change policies that best fit the unique nature of our City.

    A wide array of local, farm fresh foods are available at the year-round Arcata Plaza Farmers’ Market! Visit the market each week to enjoy the freshest fruits and vegetables, humanely raised meats and eggs, honey, jams, flowers and plant starts. Depending on the time of year, local goat cheese and fresh caught fish can also be found. This market also features the very best bands of Humboldt County, with performances each week from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The Arcata Plaza Farmers' Market is open every Saturday rain or shine! Please leave your 4-legged friends at home because multiple State, County and Municipal regulations prohibit pets at Certified Farmers' Markets and food facilities. Please also note that smoking of any kind or unauthorized vending is not permitted.

No reservations are required! This free tour takes place rain or shine and is open to all-ages. Participants are instructed to meet in the parking lot at the end of South I Street near Klopp Lake at 8:30 am.

Volunteer Work Days

  1. Community Volunteer Workday: Help Maintain Sunny Brae Park

    May 25, 2019, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Sunny Brae Park

    The City of Arcata Environmental Services Department and the Humboldt Trails Council Volunteer Trail Stewards are seeking volunteers to assist with maintaining Sunny Brae Park on Saturday, May 25 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Work will include removing invasive plants and constructing a short loop trail. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and work will take place rain or shine. Participants are asked to meet at 9 AM at the Sunny Brae Park entrance on Virginia Way. Parking will be available on Virginia Way and on the streets nearby. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, gloves and to wear protective footwear and clothing. Extra gloves, tools and lunch will be provided. Participants who wish to depart early to watch the 51st Annual Kinetic Grand Championship kick-off are welcome to!
