    Bring your binoculars and have a great morning bird watching! Join Redwood Region Audubon Society volunteers for a tour of the Arcata Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. This free tour takes place rain or shine! No reservations are necessary. Participants are instructed to meet in the parking lot at the end of South I Street near Klopp Lake.

  2. 36th Annual Arcata Lantern Floating Ceremony

    August 11, 2018, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM @ Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center

    The City of Arcata’s Nuclear Free Zone Committee began this ceremony 36 years ago to commemorate the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and to affirm Arcata’s dedication to the cause of peace. Lantern-floating is a beautiful opportunity for our community to come together for a collective moment of remembrance and reflection. A lantern-making station will be set up at the Arcata Plaza Farmers’ Market on Saturday, August 11 from 9 am to 1:30 pm. All materials and lantern-making assistance will be provided. The lantern-floating ceremony will take place at Klopp Lake in the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary from 7:30 to 10 pm. Event attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or to take a shuttle! A shuttle will run from Samoa Blvd. and I St.to the marsh parking lot located on South G St. Parking will also be available at the marsh parking lot on South G St. Parking at the Klopp Lake parking lot is reserved for those with a designated DP placard or DP license plate only.
