    Bring your binoculars and have a great morning bird watching! Join Redwood Region Audubon Society volunteers for a tour of the Arcata Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. This free tour takes place rain or shine! No reservations are necessary. Participants are instructed to meet in the parking lot at the end of South I Street near Klopp Lake.

Volunteer Work Days

  1. Community Volunteer Workday: Community Forest Trail Project with the Volunteer Trail Stewards

    August 25, 2018, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 am at the Community Forest parking lot on Fickle Hill Road, located near the entrance of Trail Number 9. From there, volunteers will walk or carpool to the south end of Trail Number 4.

    The City of Arcata’s Environmental Services Department and the Humboldt Trails Council’s Volunteer Trail Stewards are hosting a Community Volunteer Work Day to assist with maintaining trails in the Arcata Community Forest Saturday, August 25 from 9 am to 1 pm. Volunteers are instructed to meet at 9 am at the Community Forest parking lot on Fickle Hill Road, located near the entrance of Trail Number 9. From there, volunteers will walk or carpool to the south end of Trail Number 4. Work will include watering ferns, completing a new trail and armoring (rocking) trails. Volunteers are encouraged to wear a long-sleeved shirt, work pants and boots and to bring water. Gloves, tools, lunch and beverages will be provided.
